LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) — The provincial government of Pangasinan has announced the suspension of all classes and government work on Monday, November 10, as a precautionary step against the incoming Typhoon Uwan.
Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino directed the suspension for all educational levels in both public and private schools, as well as in government offices. This measure allows students, teachers, and staff to focus on family safety, emergency planning, and preparedness efforts.
The directive follows recommendations from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), led by Governor Ramon Guico III. The province is preparing for potentially severe weather, including strong winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding, as Typhoon Uwan may strengthen into a super typhoon.
During a pre-disaster risk assessment meeting, Governor Guico inspected emergency vehicles and equipment such as rubber boats, ambulances, and dump trucks to verify operational readiness. Trained rescue personnel have been placed on standby for possible evacuation and response missions.
“If preemptive evacuation is needed, it should be carried out by local government units. Human life is the most valuable in these major disasters,” said Governor Ramon Guico III.
The provincial government urged residents to remain alert and to prepare for possible impacts across Northern and Central Luzon. Citizens are advised to monitor official updates and take safety measures ahead of the storm’s arrival.
