The CEO of the Alamo's historic site, Kate Rogers, has resigned after being publicly criticized by Dan Patrick, a top Texas Republican.
Patrick had posted a 2023 academic paper written by Rogers on social media, which led to his criticism of her views being incompatible with the history of the Texas shrine.
“It was with mixed emotions that I resigned my post as President and CEO at the Alamo Trust yesterday,”
Rogers said in a statement, adding that recent events made it clear it was time for her to move on. Her resignation came after Patrick suggested she either resign or be removed in a letter to the Alamo Trust's Board of Directors.
