Anemone, the first film by three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis in eight years, has finally premiered after much anticipation.
Co-written by Day-Lewis, his son Ronan Day-Lewis (director), and featuring a talented cast, the story opens with Jem Stoker (Sean Bean, Game of Thrones) praying solemnly for strength before bidding farewell to his wife, Nessa (Oscar nominee Samantha Morton, In America), and rushing off on his motorbike.
Jem heads to an isolated shack in the Yorkshire woods, home to his older, reclusive brother Ray (Daniel Day-Lewis), whom he hasn’t seen in 20 years. Their reunion is cold and uneasy, marked by extended silences. Throughout the film’s two-hour duration, the reasons behind Jem’s visit and Ray’s self-imposed isolation gradually unfold.
"Anemone has such a strong command of tone... combining mystery, dread and suspense."
The film’s careful layering of mood and character tension crafts an immersive experience that keeps the audience engaged and uneasy.
This haunting family thriller by Daniel Day-Lewis and his son delivers a suspenseful journey into isolation, reunion, and dark secrets with powerful performances and atmospheric depth.
