UEFA Rejects Crystal Palace Request as Arsenal Fixture Issues Continue
The Carabao Cup quarter-final between Arsenal and Crystal Palace is now slated for December 23, just two days after their respective Premier League matches against Everton and Leeds.
Rescheduling Challenges for Crystal Palace
Initially set for December 16, the fixture has been pushed back, causing frustration for both teams. Managers Oliver Glasner and Mikel Arteta have openly opposed the new date, citing the tight schedule with their away Premier League games on December 21.
Requests to the Premier League Board
- Both Crystal Palace and Arsenal have formally requested the Premier League board to move their matches against Leeds and Everton to December 20.
- This adjustment would allow an extra day of rest before their Carabao Cup clash.
UEFA's Denial of Fixture Change
Crystal Palace also sought to advance their Conference League group match against KuPS from December 18 to December 17. However, UEFA declined the request.
UEFA insists all 18 final Conference League group games must start on the same date and time (8pm).
This decision rules out any scheduling flexibility for that European fixture.
