Channing Tatum, who plays Gambit, continues to be impressed by what has been achieved in Marvel’s upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. Though much of the movie remains tightly under wraps, the actor is energetically building anticipation for the MCU crossover event.
“Look, everyone in the world is going to see this movie,” Tatum told Deadline. “It’s hard to say this because, I mean, you hear these things and go, ‘Of course’. But they’ve topped themselves every time. This will be the biggest movie of next year and maybe even the next 10 years.”
Tatum says his excitement started after reading the original script and witnessing how the story took shape during production. He avoids giving away any specific details but hints that even long-time Marvel fans will be amazed by the movie’s ambition and scope.
“The scope of it, what they’re trying to do… what the Russos have cooked up – when I read it, I was just like, ‘How are they going to do this?’. It was an Everest of a mountain to climb. I am still in awe,” Tatum said.
According to Tatum, Gambit will play a key part in the action. Despite sustaining a hamstring injury while filming, he insists his involvement extended far beyond that moment.
“I do so much action in this movie, but that was just a small part,” he recalled, suggesting that the X-Men will take an active role throughout Avengers: Doomsday.
Tatum praises the Russos’ epic vision for Avengers: Doomsday, calling it the most ambitious and globally anticipated Marvel film of the next decade.
