The Kaukauna police department has apologized for an incident involving a lost cat. A Good Samaritan found the cat, named "Walter", on Oct. 26 and called the police.

The Kaukauna Police would first like to extend an apology to the owners of the cat and Kaukauna Community for the way this incident was handled.

Instead of taking Walter to a shelter, a Kaukauna officer abandoned him in a remote location miles from his home. The department has pledged to do better after reviewing the incident.
