NDCL Introduces Therapy Dogs to Enhance Students' Well-being

Notre Dame Cathedral Latin School in Geauga County has introduced therapy dogs to promote student well-being. The dogs make regular visits to offer comfort, connection, and a moment of peace during the busy school day.

The program currently features seven certified therapy dogs and their handlers, licensed through Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc. and The Alliance of Therapy Dogs. The dogs are skilled in obedience, rally, scent-work, and therapy.

Visits from the therapy dogs take place in the Learning Commons and, on good weather days, in the school courtyard, providing a gentle boost to student well-being.

The program aims to offer comfort, connection and a moment of peace in the middle of a busy school day.

The introduction of therapy dogs is a proactive approach to supporting student well-being, rather than a response to trouble.
