Plan Unveiled to Streamline Greyhound Racing Industry
A report by Deloitte Australia has recommended reducing the number of greyhound racing tracks in the state from 25 to 15.
Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) boss Steve Griffin expects Maitland to remain a key part of the sport, despite the recommendation to close the historic showground venue by June 30 next year.
If Maitland were to close, the racing meetings would stay in the Hunter.
- Maitland is one of three TAB tracks set to close, alongside Wagga Wagga and Broken Hill.
- Non-TAB tracks at Coonamble, Kempsey, Moree, Potts Park, Tamworth, Wauchope, and Young will close by the end of the year.
