We cannot sit back to AI, says Professor Meghan Sullivan, the Wilsey Family College Professor of Philosophy at Notre Dame.
“This debate is moving lightning fast, and one of the ways that you lose your seat at the table is by holding back, by being too tentative, by watching and waiting. Your generation cannot afford to do that. None of us can.”
Professor Sullivan is also the director of the University-wide Ethics Initiative and the Institute for Ethics and the Common Good. She is known for creating the undergraduate course "God and the Good Life" with Paul Blaschko.
As a philosopher, Sullivan is deeply interested in ethics and its impact on our ability to live good lives, with a recent focus on the complex ethical questions surrounding artificial intelligence.
Professor Sullivan emphasizes the need for active engagement with AI ethics.
