Staffordshire Leader Reacts to "Squandered" Billions of Taxpayers' Money
The Leader of Staffordshire County Council, Ian Cooper, has expressed his discontent with the use of taxpayers' money on asylum hotels, calling it a "disgrace".
"The squandering of millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money on costly hotels is nothing short of a disgrace.”
A report by the Home Affairs Committee highlighted "flawed contracts" and "incompetent delivery" as the reasons for the Home Office's reliance on hotels as a permanent solution instead of temporary accommodation for asylum seekers.
