Saudi Railway Company and Ericsson Partner on 5G Technology
The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ericsson to trial 5G technology across its rail network.
The partnership aims to assess the potential of 5G technology in modernizing operations and improving passenger connectivity. Ericsson will deploy equipment supporting enhanced communication, train control, and safety across SAR's lines.

- High-speed passenger broadband
The initial deployment will cover one of SAR's routes to evaluate performance under real-world conditions. A dedicated innovation centre will be established to trial and validate 5G applications.
Ericsson and SAR will introduce training programs to build local expertise and equip SAR's workforce to use advanced communications technologies.
