Residents of Jefferson Chalmers are pursuing a seawall repair program to alleviate FEMA flood zone restrictions.
Councilmember Latisha Johnson is working to get applications for a seawall grant program out to the public by spring.
“We boat, we fish, we kayak, we paddleboard — we try to take full advantage of all the beautiful assets here, and we know we’re privileged to have access to these,”
said Dan Piepszowski, a resident of Harbor Island, a canal community in Detroit’s Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood.
