A man has been sentenced to 5 months in jail for his role in a lengthy police standoff in Sarnia.
The incident occurred on May 27, when a 51-year-old homeowner, John Hawkins, confronted a man tampering with his ATV on Vidal Street South near Devine Street.
- The homeowner grabbed a baseball bat for protection and ordered the man to leave.
- The unwanted man initially ignored him but eventually moved to the sidewalk, where they argued.
- A second man, John Nahmabin, joined the verbal clash and circled the homeowner, who dropped the bat in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
Nahmabin was recently sentenced to 150 days in jail for uttering a death threat during the altercation.
