Mud Slide Leaves Vancouver Island's Holberg Stranded and Without Power

A windstorm has cut off access to the small, remote community of Holberg on Vancouver Island's northern tip.

A mudslide has closed Holberg Road, with reports of several other slides in the area. According to Dane Cameron, the Regional District of Mount Waddington's emergency program coordinator,

"The slide occurred on Northeast 60 Road at approximately the 14k mark,"
which is a section of road owned by Western Forest Products.

Western Forest Products is currently assessing the extent of the slide and will develop an action plan for debris removal. Meanwhile, BC Hydro reports that 47 customers have been affected by the slide and are currently without power.
