India and China Resume Direct Flights

India and China will restart direct flights in October 2025, led by IndiGo, signaling renewed trade, tourism, and business ties.

The resumption of direct passenger flights, confirmed by India’s Ministry of External Affairs and China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marks a major milestone in restoring cross-border connectivity and rebuilding bilateral confidence after nearly five years of suspension.

A “cooperative pas de deux of the dragon and the elephant,” - Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun.

The move is part of a broader strategy to revitalize economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between the two Asian giants, following a consensus reached at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Tianjin on August 31, 2025.
