PA Systems and Screens Hacked at Kelowna and Victoria Airports

On Tuesday, October 14, some flights at Kelowna and Victoria airports were delayed due to a cyber security incident. The public address systems and screens were hacked, displaying pro-Hamas messages.

The incident started between 5 p.m. at both Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Victoria International Airport (YYJ). The unauthorized messaging was seen and heard throughout the airports.

"The YLW team has successfully removed the unauthorized messaging... It has also restored our flight information display screens and are continuing to work on restoring the PA system."

According to a post on Kelowna Reddit, the messaging was displayed for about two minutes, including phrases like "Free Palestine" and curses against the U.S. The City of Kelowna stated that the incident was limited to a cloud-based third-party software provider.

The airport has since resolved the issue, with flights resuming their normal schedule.
