Florida Man Convicted of Killing 2 Women to be Executed
A 72-year-old Florida man, Samuel Lee Smithers, was scheduled to be executed by lethal injection at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Florida State Prison near Starke.
This execution would be Florida's 14th in 2025, setting a new state record for executions in a single year, surpassing the previous high of eight in 2014.
The execution was set to take place under a death warrant signed by Republican Gov.
