Two Australian men were commended by an American country music artist for intervening during an altercation at a Melbourne McDonald's. The incident involved a female staff member who was reportedly verbally abused and spat at by a customer.
Drew Baldridge, a US country singer touring Australia with Jelly Roll, shared video footage of the event on his social media, describing it as “so inspiring to watch these dudes stand up for this woman.”
Baldridge witnessed the customer repeatedly verbally abusing the worker, saying the man “probably said it like five times” and that he grew frustrated, confronting the man with, “Bro, you need to calm down. You don’t talk to women like that.”
At one point, the man spat at the young female employee, apparently because his order was incorrect. Other men in the restaurant then approached him, stating, “Hey bro, we don’t talk to women like that.”
According to Baldridge, two men quickly stepped in and restrained the man, pinning him to the ground. In the video, one of the men can be heard saying,
“Wrong country if you want to abuse women.”
He expressed admiration for the men’s courage and action in protecting the staff member and standing against the abuse.
Summary: This incident highlights swift community action protecting a worker from abuse, earning praise from a visiting country music star who emphasizes respect toward women.
