Swedish Engineering Company Highlights China as Key Market

At the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Swedish engineering and service company Alfa Laval emphasized its strong commitment to China, identifying it as the company’s most important market.

CEO and CFO Interview Insights

CEO Tom Erixon and CFO Fredrik Ekstrom spoke to China Central Television (CCTV), underscoring China's crucial role for both Alfa Laval's business growth and the global energy transition.

“Sometimes it’s important that we, as a team, experience the same thing. It’s very much a learning experience from what is for us the most important market in the world, China,” said Erixon.

Ekstrom explained that the expo provides opportunities to connect with government officials, customers, and partners.

“I think it’s a mix of meeting government officials, it’s meeting our customers, and of course, it’s expanding our view of what’s happening in China at the same time because when you look around, you really get a true sense of how important China is as a market for the rest of the world and why it’s important for us to be here as well. In fact, it’s 20 percent of our turnover. But more importantly, we look at it as a future market because China leads the global energy transition right now,” Ekstrom said.

Long-term Planning Aligned with China’s Five-Year Plans

Erixon highlighted the guidance China’s Five-Year Plans provide for Alfa Laval’s strategic planning, describing them as very accurate predictors of future developments.

“China’s Five-Year Plans have guided Alfa Laval’s long-term planning, calling them ‘very predictive of what’s actually going to happen,’” Erixon noted.

China remains central to Alfa Laval’s growth strategy and its vision for the future energy transition.

Author’s summary: Alfa Laval considers China its key market due to strategic growth opportunities and leadership in the global energy transition, aligning closely with China’s policy frameworks.
