Pettersson shines on NHL debut

Pettersson Shines on NHL Debut

Elias Pettersson scored in his very first NHL game, marking an impressive start to his career. The former Växjö Lakers forward played for the Vancouver Canucks in their season opener against the Calgary Flames, netting a goal just 13:48 into the match. He also assisted on the Canucks’ second goal, helping secure a 5-2 victory.

Pettersson’s strong debut surprises no one familiar with his European career last year. At 19 years old, he not only won the SHL title with Växjö Lakers but also earned several awards in Sweden. Additionally, he helped his team reach the Champions Hockey League final.

Wearing the LGT Top Scorer Jersey for much of the CHL season, Pettersson led his team in scoring with six goals over 11 games.

“He helped his side reach the final of the Champions Hockey League and wore the LGT Top Scorer Jersey for a large part of the CHL season.”

Our cameras also visited Växjö to capture how the fifth overall draft pick performed in his first CHL and SHL seasons.

Author's summary: Elias Pettersson made an impressive NHL debut by scoring and assisting early, continuing his standout performance from a decorated European career.
