Former NBA player Delonte West was discovered unconscious at an intersection in Virginia, according to Fairfax County Police. The authorities stated that West appeared severely intoxicated, leading to his arrest for his own safety.
“Police offered to take West to the hospital, but he refused,” reported The New York Post.
The Fairfax County Police Department confirmed that officers and EMS responded to a call about an unconscious man. When found, West was breathing and later regained consciousness. After being arrested, he posted bond and was released from custody. It remains uncertain whether he will face charges related to this incident.
West previously played eight seasons in the NBA across four teams and once earned approximately $16 million in his career. His financial downfall and struggles with substance abuse and legal issues have drawn public concern for several years.
This recent arrest comes roughly a year after Fairfax County police detained West in Huntington for trespassing and resisting arrest during a warrant service.
