Türkiye’s meteorology authority issued new weather warnings on Thursday as a large atmospheric system moves eastward across the country. The situation brings heavy rain, thunderstorms, and dense fog to vast areas, extending from western to central provinces.
Forecasts indicate heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with a higher risk of flooding in Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa and other western provinces. Residents are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions as conditions worsen.
Experts told Oxu.az that “the sky turns dark tonight” and advised residents to stay prepared.
Meteorology officials predict scattered downpours across the Marmara region, Inner Aegean, Western Mediterranean and parts of Central Anatolia. Authorities recommend avoiding unnecessary travel during intense rainfalls and being cautious about sudden water accumulation.
The weather system has extended warnings to 30 provinces, placing them under rain alerts due to the expanding front. These areas are expected to face variable rainfall and potential localized flooding.
Despite the storms, temperatures across most provinces remain three to five degrees above normal seasonal averages.
