Cade Cunningham delivered an exceptional performance, scoring 19 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter as the Detroit Pistons captured their fourth consecutive win, defeating the Utah Jazz 114–103 on Wednesday night.
Detroit improved to 6–2 and continued to showcase strong defensive form. Entering the game ranked second in field-goal defense at 42.9%, the Pistons held Utah to just 38.4% shooting (33 of 86 attempts).
Duren opened strong with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the first half, but Mykhailiuk’s 18 and Markkanen’s 12 gave the Jazz a narrow two-point edge at halftime.
Utah struggled in the third quarter, missing nine of their first ten shots and shooting only 18% (4 of 22) in the period, allowing Detroit to surge ahead 78–69.
Thompson extended the lead to 94–82 with a layup midway through the fourth. Although he briefly exited with an ankle issue, he returned to finish the game. Cunningham’s explosive quarter prevented any late Jazz comeback.
The Jazz announced before the game that center Walker Kessler would undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.
The Pistons’ balanced offense and lockdown defense secured their fourth straight win, with Cunningham’s clutch performance sealing the victory over Utah.
