Rugby Star Lewis Moody Shares Family Update After MND Diagnosis

Retired rugby player Lewis Moody, 47, has provided an update on his Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis and how his family is managing the difficult news. He announced the diagnosis only weeks ago, describing MND as a life-shortening neurological illness that impacts the nerves controlling movement.

Family Coping with the Diagnosis

During an interview on BBC Breakfast, Lewis spoke about how his two sons and wife are adapting to this life-changing situation. His sons, Dylan, 17, and Ethan, 15, are still processing the information.

"Just to step away from all that and have a bit of family time - especially with the boys. They're still young, they're still trying to understand it all."

Dylan is currently in Qatar playing football, and Lewis hopes to visit him soon to watch him play. He emphasized the importance of spending quality family time.

Current Health and Focus

When asked about the progression of his symptoms, Lewis shared:

"Touch wood - at the minute, physically, no not really. I have a couple of small symptoms in the hand and the shoulder but the only real effect it has on you is in the back of your mind."

He highlighted the need to focus on each day with purpose and to enjoy the moments physically possible.
