At a pre-pageant event on November 3, multiple Miss Universe 2025 contestants walked out in solidarity after the Thai pageant director publicly embarrassed Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch.
Nawat Itsaragrisil, the Thai pageant director and vice president for Asia and Oceania of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), publicly called Bosch “dumb” for allegedly not posting promotional content about Thailand. He also ordered security to remove her from the event.
During a livestream on Miss Universe Thailand’s Facebook page, Itsaragrisil addressed the participants, asking them to raise their hands if they had not completed promotional activities. When Bosch stood up, he confronted her:
“I heard you did not agree to post everything about Thailand, about every article of our own activities. Is it true? You don't like to post everything because your director from Mexico ordered you to not pay any attention, to post about the host country? If you follow the orders from your national director, you are a dumb.”
He further boasted of being a “businessman” with “a lot of money.”
The public humiliation led several contestants to leave the event in protest against the treatment of Miss Mexico.
This controversy highlights tensions around promotional duties in international pageants and the consequences of public confrontations by officials.
