Cambrian College Introduces Dental Assisting Program
Cambrian College is launching a Dental Assisting program in response to the need for qualified staff in Northern Ontario dental practices.
The 10-month program combines online courses with weekend campus sessions, allowing students to balance work and studies. A seven-week placement provides hands-on experience in a dental setting.
Dental assistants play a vital role in supporting dentists and dental hygienists, and enhancing patient care.
According to Rachel Steels, dean of Cambrian's School of Health Sciences, dental assistants perform various clinical and administrative tasks, including infection control, x-rays, and patient education.
The program's introduction is driven by community and industry demand, addressing the need for skilled dental assistants in the region.
