The Babylon Panthers will proceed to a state quarterfinal on Saturday after defeating Carle Place in the Long Island Class B boys soccer final at Harborfields.
For four consecutive years, Carle Place and Babylon have met in the Long Island Class B championship game, with Babylon losing the previous three matches without scoring a goal.
However, in Tuesday's rematch, junior captain Daniel Murphy scored the decisive goal, despite struggling with a groin injury for weeks, securing Babylon's first Long Island Class B title since 2021 with a 1-0 win.
Babylon beat Carle Place, 1-0, at Harborfields High School to lift the Long Island Class B trophy.
