Mexican Authorities Suspect Jalisco Cartel in Mayor's Killing

Mexican authorities suspect that Carlos Manzo Rodriguez, the mayor of Uruapan, was killed by the Jalisco Cartel, according to a report.

The report by El País cites sources familiar with the investigation, linking the killing to the capture of a local leader, Rene Belmonte, by police in August.

A source quoted by El País said that the gunman, a young man between 17 and 19 years old, was connected to the cartel and was killed immediately after the shooting.
