Two cybersecurity professionals, tasked with defending against ransomware attacks, have been charged with deploying ALPHV malware against US companies, demanding millions in cryptocurrency.
Three cybersecurity experts, specializing in responding to ransomware attacks, have been accused of secretly running their own ransomware operation. They allegedly deployed ALPHV BlackCat malware against at least five US enterprises between May and November 2023.
The indictment was filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida on October 2.
