Cait Oppermann on Documenting IBM Research
Photographer Cait Oppermann discusses her new book with IBM and Actual Source, celebrating the innovations and people behind them.
In 2018, Oppermann was approached by IBM to document IBM Research, the company's R&D division. She captured the facility through a documentary lens, aiming to show its human side.
“When someone would move to tidy their desk as I came in, I stopped them and asked them not to touch a thing. I really wanted to photograph IBM as it was and is, showing the distinctly human side of the project,”
Oppermann tells CR. Her book showcases not just the company's innovations, but also the people driving them.
