Laura Lang expressed surprise, emotion, and pride in being a Yukoner after defeating Mike Pemberton for the Whitehorse West seat, according to unofficial results. The former director of the Yukon Housing Corporation stated she understands the machinery of government.
“I’m prepared to work damn hard,” she said. “We work hard, we listen to each other, and we take care. And that’s what happened in this campaign.”
- In Mayo-Tatchun, Cory Bellmore of the NDP leads incumbent Liberal Jeremy Harper 315-288.
- Yukon Party leader Currie Dixon is up more than 200 votes on Matthew Lien of the NDP with five of nine polls reporting in Copperbelt North.
- Copperbelt South is likely to remain with Yukon Party incumbent Scott Kent, with a 365 vote deficit and two polls yet to report.
