SIXT Spring 18ft Skiff Championship
Strong winds forced the abandonment of Race 1 in the SIXT Spring 18ft Skiff Championship on Sydney Harbour, impacting the 2025-26 sailing season.
The Australian 18 Footers League’s 2025-26 summer season began unfortunately due to strong westerly winds, gusting over 30 knots.
Only three teams managed to cross the start line after a 30-minute delay:
- Lazarus Capital Partners (Tom Cunich, Marc Chapon, Tim Westwood)
- Rag & Famish Hotel (Ben Crafoord, Ryan Ewings, Max Nearn)
- Club Marine (Emma Rankin, Brandon Buyink, Jed Cruikshank)
Despite their efforts, the race officials quickly abandoned the race due to impossible sailing conditions.
