A Christian’s Appeal to Conscience

As the nation approaches the polls, it is imperative to acknowledge that faith without integrity has become a convenient politics in the Bahamas.

There comes a time when silence is considered a sin, particularly when those who claim to stand on faith prioritize loyalty to a color, forgiveness of scandal, and blindness to corruption over their values.

“No man can serve two masters…You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24)
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” (Isaiah 5:20)

Believers often confuse political allegiance with divine appointment, treating the Progressive Liberal Party as sacred ground, and in doing so, they worship rather than simply vote.

When power, position, or party becomes one's primary loyalty, it supplants God. The World Justice Project (2023) found that over 90% of Bahamians believe political corruption is frequent, yet scandals are consistently brushed aside and wrongdoing is explained away as "just politics".

The same individuals who worship on Sunday often mark an X for corruption on Monday, highlighting the disconnect between faith and actions.

Author's summary: Christians must prioritize integrity over political convenience.
