As the government shutdown heads into its second month, approximately 650,000 employees are receiving renewed furlough notices.
The notices, which are required to be sent every 30 days, inform employees to remain at home without working. Unlike previous notices, these do not include guarantees of back pay.
The current funding lapse has entered its 31st day and may surpass the record 35-day impasse from 2018-2019 next week.
The shutdown is poised to enter its second month on Saturday.
