South Effingham opens Class 5A state tournament with two dominating wins, led by Cheniyah Jackson’s shutouts and a balanced offensive attack.
The Mustangs, led by Cheniyah Jackson, found success at the Class 5A state fast-pitch tournament in Columbus. Jackson pitched two three-hit shutouts, and South's offense contributed to a 6-0 win over Lassiter and a 12-0 rout of Jackson County.
"The kids did an outstanding job – enough to make it a great day,"
said SEHS coach Adam Newland. The Mustangs will advance to the state championship round on Saturday if they win their next game.
