Over 2,700 People Denied Maltese Citizenship In Past Five Years

Maltese Citizenship Denials

Over 2,700 people have been denied Maltese citizenship in the past five years.

Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri revealed that 2,752 applications for Maltese citizenship via naturalisation were denied.

Of these, 756 were dependents, including children or family members who applied alongside primary applicants.

The Minister didn’t reveal details on the applicants’ countries of origin or their duration of stay in Malta.

The question was raised by PN MP Graziella Attard Previ, seeking transparency on citizenship refusals.
