CTV's annual Coats for Kids campaign in Sault Ste. Marie will not take place this year due to "unforeseen operational challenges", according to Carrie-Ann Tantalo, news director at CTV News Sudbury.
Due to a number of unforeseen operational challenges, CTV Sault Ste. Marie’s Coats For Kids campaign will not be taking place this year.
The campaign has been running for 29 years and has helped thousands of people stay warm during winter. Meanwhile, Sudbury's Pure Country 91.7 Coats For A Cause campaign remains ongoing.
The cancellation of the campaign comes at a difficult time for Sault Ste. Marie, where visible homelessness is on the rise and the city is experiencing anxiety due to US-imposed tariffs affecting major industries, including Algoma Steel.
It is unclear if the Coats for Kids campaign will return next year.
