A new book, co-written by Dr Shane McCorristine of Newcastle University, sheds light on the forgotten history of Newcastle's notorious prison.
Published to mark the 100th anniversary of the prison's closure, Newcastle Prison: A History, 1828-1925 reveals hidden stories and rare images from the lives of inmates and staff.
The authors will discuss their book at a free event at Newcastle City Library on November 22nd, as part of the Books on Tyne 2025 festival.
