Motsoaledi Relaunches Parliamentary TB Caucus
Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi announced that the country is entering a new era of accountability, innovation, and political will in the fight against tuberculosis.
Speaking at the relaunch of Parliament’s TB Caucus in Cape Town, Motsoaledi emphasized the need for a unified effort against the country’s leading infectious killer.
"We cannot continue treating TB as a background disease, it has been with us for centuries, it is curable, and yet it still kills more people than any other infectious disease."
The relaunch of the TB Caucus aims to unite MPs, government departments, and civil society to coordinate efforts against tuberculosis, giving it the same urgency and visibility as other major pandemics such as HIV and COVID-19.
