A collaboration between NYU's Tandon School of Engineering, Stanford University, and the City University of New York has launched "Cryptolets," a public platform for sharing and implementing cybersecurity hardware designs.
The project, funded by a $3.8 million grant from the National Science Foundation, aims to make it easier for scientists to build systems that process encrypted data.
The group originally aimed to develop a library where researchers can share pre-made privacy chip prototypes, combine smaller chips to create more efficient security systems and easily test their designs.
Once established, the platform could eliminate the lengthy process of building cybersecurity hardware from scratch.
