A police officer was injured after a man drove through the security barrier at the Philadelphia Coast Guard headquarters.
The incident occurred on Saturday around 7 p.m. when the man, driving a white sedan, breached the facility barrier at 1 Washington Ave. and entered the grounds, disabling multiple surveillance cameras and communication devices.
According to Police Sgt. Gripp, as the Philadelphia Police Marine Unit and Coast Guard personnel responded to the scene, the trespasser struck a police officer in the face with a surveillance camera, leaving him with minor injuries.
A short struggle ensued between the man and the emergency personnel, and authorities believe he may have been under the influence of drugs. The man was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
