An elementary school in Rockwood was closed on Friday due to an early morning U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation at a nearby apartment complex.
According to residents, law enforcement arrived at the Carrington Square apartment complex around 6 a.m. Officers were seen serving a search warrant and conducting an investigation.
"They [officers] said supposedly because there was a whole bunch of guns and drugs, and that's why they were coming to the apartment,"
said Carrington Square resident Priscilla Mazorra. State Rep. Ricki Ruiz, D-Gresham, confirmed the closure of Rockwood Preparatory School on social media, stating that
"Witnesses reported over 10 vehicles arriving and targeting two individuals,"
Ruiz said. The operation has sparked concerns within the community.
