Mazda has announced plans to release a new electric vehicle (EV) in the Australian market in 2026, with a range of up to 500 km.
The new EV, called the Mazda 6e, will be available mid-2026 and will feature a 78 kWh battery, marking a significant improvement over the previous MX-30 model, which had a range of just over 200 km.
"This is a watershed moment for Mazda,"said Vinesh Bhindi, Managing Director of Mazda Australia.
The Mazda 6e will be the company's only electric vehicle in the market, following the discontinuation of the MX-30 about 18 months ago. The price of the new model has not yet been released.
The launch of the Mazda 6e is part of the company's plans to electrify more of its local lineup and marks "the next era of Zoom-Zoom".
