European Commission Reconsiders EUDR Implementation

The European Commission has decided not to delay the implementation of its deforestation regulation, instead proposing simplifications for micro and small businesses.

The regulation will take effect seamlessly starting at the end of this year. In September, IT issues were cited as a reason for a potential 12-month delay in implementing the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

However, the EC has announced a fresh proposal involving targeted simplifications and reduced obligations for some operators. This means that for micro and small enterprises, EUDR will only apply from 30 December 2026.

The European Commission has proposed to simplify the requirements for micro and small businesses.
