The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) plans to rebrand Jobcentres into a Jobs and Careers Service by merging with the National Careers Service (NCS).
Up to 1,000 staff employed by NCS subcontractors are expected to transfer into the civil service by next October.
Civil servants told prime contractors they would be "in-sourcing" delivery of careers advice to adults from October 1 next year.
Around 1,000 careers advisers will join the 17,000 Jobcentre workforce.
A DWP spokesperson stated that they would work with contractors to identify which employees were in scope to be transferred.
