Girls Golf: Dakota's Monteith Keeps Rising Charts

Marissa Monteith, a junior at Macomb Dakota, has taken her golf game to the next level. In eighth grade, her parents gave her an ultimatum: if she quit softball, she had to play another school sport.

"My grandpa lives on a golf course and I've played golf for fun growing up. I guess I was pretty good at it, but never really took it seriously,"

recalled Monteith. She tried out for the golf team in high school and has since become a rising star. Her parents' motivation was clear:

"My parents said there was no way I would just sit around after school and not do anything,"
she added.

Author's summary: Marissa Monteith rises in golf charts.
