A large stretch of Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton will be closed due to a Marine Corps live-fire event.
The event, part of the Marine Corps' 250th birthday celebration, will involve firing artillery over the I-5 Freeway.

The closure, which was announced on Saturday morning, will be in effect from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm between Harbor Drive in Oceanside to Basilone Road near San Onofre.
This closure comes despite the Marine Corps' initial statement that no freeway closure would be necessary.
