Chinook Salmon Fishing Closed on Umatilla River

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is closing a section of the Umatilla River to chinook salmon fishing from October 18 to November 30.

This closure affects the area from the Highway 730 bridge upriver to Threemile Dam and is due to low numbers of returning fish and increasing harvest rates.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is closing the river to chinook fishing due to low numbers of returning fish and increasing harvest rates.

The daily bag limit for steelhead on the river remains at three fish. The closure aims to ensure enough fish are collected at Threemile Dam for breeding and to support the long-term sustainability of the chinook fishery.
