Concerns Over North and West Area Plan
A Douglas law firm has raised concerns about the proposed Area Plan for the North and West, due to be considered for approval this month.
Simcocks Advocates, on behalf of its client Baccarat Limited, argues that the plan is based on outdated data, lacks independence, and may be undeliverable in its current form.
- The plan was developed without an updated National Infrastructure Strategy.
- The last published strategy in 2018 identified congestion issues at key junctions into Douglas.
- Key junctions, such as Governor’s Dip and Quarterbridge, are operating at around 85 percent over capacity.
The Town and Country Planning (Area Plan for the North & West) Order 2025 may be flawed.
Tynwald members are urged to consider these alleged flaws in the planning process.
