Macon DA: Byron man convicted on 18 counts of child sexual exploitation, faces 360 years

A Byron man, Benjamin Frank Smith, was convicted on 18 counts of child sexual exploitation for possessing disturbing child pornography videos in 2018.

According to the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, Smith was arrested in March 2018 after the Georgia Internet Crime Against Children Task Force identified him as a person of interest.

Law enforcement searched his home and found two devices with 18 different videos and over nine hours of illegal material depicting multiple prepubescent male and female child victims.

Smith faces up to 360 years in prison for his crimes.

The videos depicted child victims, some appearing to be elementary school-aged.
